Meet Kathy Burns
Kathy Burns is an energetic leader who is dedicated to the success of students and the improvement of our schools. Her open door, hands-on approach to leadership may see her serving in the cafeteria, lending a hand as a para on a bus, meeting with students and parents, running a shelter during hurricane season, or holding advisory group meetings .
As Superintendent of Schools, Kathy Burns has led the Nassau County School District to seven years of A ratings. Nassau County School District has also been recognized as a High Academically Performing District. The district’s most recent audit stated “no deficiencies in the operation of the Nassau County School District.”
She has partnered with local agencies like the Boys and Girls Club to expand after school opportunities for students.
She has dedicated her work to the five focus areas of the Nassau County School District’s Strategic Plan while building relationships with students, families, and community partners. Under her leadership, safety has been Priority #1.
